The Queen Is Dead

Country music icon Dolly Parton has passed at 80.  A beloved singer/songwriter, her six decade career resulted in 11 Grammy Awards, over 100 million records sold, a record tying 25 number one singles, and opening the world famous Dollywood. Her popular songs included Jolene, Islands in the Stream, 9 to 5, and I Will Always Love You which was covered to enormous success by Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard.  She branched out into other arts including TV and film and won three Emmy Awards, a Tony Award, and The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.  She starred in major films like 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias. And who could forget her dazzling halftime show in 2023 dressed as  Dallas Cowboys cheerleader? Her buoyant persona was matched by her generous philanthropic work.
